Hair Color Change in Baby After Death

When my baby died at 36 hrs. old, I asked to see him, at first they said no, but I insisted, my baby was born with black hair, the baby they showed me had hair so light it was almost white, when I questioned that, they said this sometimes happens. Is this true?
