Forensic Trace and Impressions

Hi! I'm from Greece, a high school student, and I want to become a crime scene investigator. Believe me, it has nothing to do with the CSI effect, since I was interested in this field before the series came over here.
My forensic questions are: What kind of education should I take from now on to become a Trace and Impressions specialist? Preferably in America, since it has always been my dream of going there. And will there be vacant positions by the time I have graduated? Thanks in advance!
