Do the Best You Can
by: Anonymous

The officer should control the scene and absolutely not touch anything until it has been documented. The weapon should be left where it was when the first responder arrived on scene.

If the weapon has been collected before the photography, document the scene as if the weapon was still there and include all possible information re the location in your notes.

When the most is not possible, all you can do is the best you can do.
