Forensic DNA Question

Hi, I'm a screenwriter with a plotline dealing with a body part being discovered in a person's car. What I'm looking for is a possible timeline as to how long it might take for a detective to get results back from forensics as to aprox. time the part was detached.

Also, timetable for detectives/forensics to check data bank to see if they have a record of the person matching the DNA.
