Qualifications

I have the same interest in forensic science and I have done some searching and found that you need at least 4 GCSE grades A*-C. These GCSE's have to include English and maths or science. You also need an A-level in a science, preferably Biology or Chemistry.

Hope this helps

My son is 14 years old and taking an interest in Science and is looking for further information on forensic science as a career. Would you please direct him as to what GCSEs and A levels he may need and the best university to study. Thank you.

Math
by: Marcella

Hi there. No, you don't need an A in Math classes to become a Forensic Scientist, but you do need to pass college level Calculus I and II ( a year's worth), as well as any prereq. like Pre-Calculus. My advice ? These classes are much easier and have much more teacher help at the community college level. I would do them there as well as your general ed stuff and then transfer to a 4 year college to finish. Just keep your GPA over 3.0, if you can.

Good luck,

Marcella

advice please ?
by: shannon

I wanted to be a vet at one point but I'm not very good at maths so I changed it to wanting to be a forensic scientist because I'm quite into science. But I just read that I need an A grade in maths in this too - is that true? If so does it have to be an A?

I'm only in year 10 just going into year 11 so I really need to decide my career path soon for college courses. Could someone please give me some advice? :)

what it is REALLY like
by: venessa

I am a Forensic Serologist II and I have testified in both federal and state superior courts as an expert witness. I have created a website, www.ForensicMentor.com to help those who are interested in learning and mentoring from a real scientist. Check it out!

I read that you need to be skilled in biology, chemistry, and toxicology. these will lead to 3 different career paths or 1 big one. i also want to be a forensic scientist, so good luck.

Amy

You need an A Grade in maths to become a forensic scientist, and also changing to english literature was a bad idea as it has no relationship to forensic scientist.
