The majority of forensic jobs in the U.S. are government jobs and you need to be either a US citizen or resident alien (you need to have a green card). I haven't seen any forensic jobs that will sponsor you to work and get you a work visa so you should look into becoming a resident alien if you plan on trying to get a job in the US.

No, not true. It depends on where you work. Not all labs are government or have any type of requirement to that effect, as long as you are legal to work in the US.
