That depends on where in the world you are, different Countries have different standards.
Up to the 10th June 2001, the standard for the production of fingerprint evidence in a Court in the UK was 16 characteristics in agreement for a single mark (there were other 'levels' if there was more than one mark identified).
After the 10th June 2001 there is no longer a numerical standard, providing 3 fingerprint officers (2 of these MUST be Experts)check the identification independently of each other and agree, then it is classed as being eligible for production at Court.
