This is a very broad type of question.

In forensic autopsies in Sydney which we request full toxicological analysis we are looking at 4 weeks for a Blood alcohol estimation and up to 3 months for complete toxicology using bile, liver, stomach, urine, blood and maybe vitreous alcohol.
In Sydney the DAL Division of Analytical Labs takes that long as it is the only accredited laboratory and also performs all other tests such as sports screening, public health tests, drug screening for sports and horse and dog racing industries.

In my experience in South Africa Cape Town you have had the absurd situation where test have taken 12 months for alcohol for example with charges having to be dismissed in traffic incidents due to the length of time.

Hope this assist.
