Forensic Science Quote

by Richard Woods
(Norfolk, UK)

I am looking for a quotation regarding the impact of pathology and especially toxicology on the detection and commission of murder. I had the privilege in the 50s and 60s to attend St Pancras Coroners Court, London (notably under coroner Dr Robert Ian Milne) and heard the evidence and talked with both Prof Francis Camps and Dr James(?) Cameron.

One of them told me that it was the development of forensic science, toxicology and especially the post mortem that first exposed the actuality of murder in society and by the improvement in detection led to a reduction, especially of poisonings. This was included in lectures with the joke that would-be murderous inheritors had had to change their modus operandi!

I wish to explore this strand further and this quotation would provide a valuable starting point.
