Forensic Science Career Question

I am working on my BA for Forensic Science and have been told that if a person has a criminal record that the person can not go into Forensic Science. (I am interested in being a Forensic Anthropologist).

I am concerned because 12 years ago I received a criminal record for passing bad check which is a felon in the state that it occurred. I have done restititution and the matter was set aside since I never had any priors before. Now I am concerned that I will not be able to get employed as a Forensic Science Anthropologist or as a Forensic Science Technician. Can I get some feedback about this? Am I going to be able to have a career in Forensic Science or do I have to just give up? I would appreciate any help in this matter.
