DNA SAMPLE
by: CINNEROSE

IF THAT WENT TO COURT THERE IS REASONABLE DOUBT THE SAMPLE IS CLEAN I CALL THAT CROSS CONTAMINATION. WHEN SAMPLES ARE TAKEN THEY MUST BE CLEAN AND CAREFULLY HANDLED.

Contamination
by: jessica

contamination can occur but the amount of DNA in the buccal swap is much higher than any contamination. This means that the actual DNA profile coming from this sample should be OK.

Also, as you can see, they take four samples from one individual in order to check whether any contamination has occurred. Obviously, the way these samples were treated is not correct. These samples will dry inside the envelope so there is no need for them to dry on the counter. In case you want to make sure they are dry before putting them inside the envelope it is important you do so in a clean environment such as a UV-chamber or lab.
