CSI Effect

I love watching CSI (Miami, New York, and Vegas) and since I was 8 I always wanted to be one. but now I'm having second thoughts. I always wanted to be the one on the scene collecting evidence and then taking it back to the lab and figure it out and work with the other police.

Are CSI shows a reality or a fake?. If I like the show and want to be a CSI because of the show should I?
